English II - Personal Narrative Reflection

Hey Guys!

Monday is the due date for the final draft of your personal narratives, and it has been a long and difficult road. The skills that we have learned on the way - using a planner to plot the organization of our work, incorporating reflection into our personal writing, using descriptiveness to accentuate the feelings and emotions in our work, etc. - will be useful in other writing tasks, too.

Now that you are almost finished, I would like you to reflect on the writing process that you went through. Discuss the hardships you faced, the challenges that you overcame, and the enjoyable parts of the process. Are you happy with the final piece? Did it help you grow in any way, either as a writer or as a human being? How? What could you have improved if you had it to do over again? Did you feel prepared for this activity? Did you have enough time?

This post must be a minimum of 150 words. If your login is not your name, be sure to type your name at the top of your post so I can easily identify that the post is yours. Remember, these posts have a point value, so it is important to make a good effort on these.

Writing my personal narrative was kind of hard for me. I was having trouble explaining myself and how I would deal with things through out my narrative. I made a lot of mistakes in my narrative, especially leaving thing's out. I'm still working on my final draft making it so much better. I really like my narrative it means a lot to me and everything that happened in my life last year. My narrative is going to be extremely good, because I truly express myself and how I felt. It help me grow to see how much my family has been through and how much they care about everyone. It helped me because it showed thee soft side of my family that I've never really seen before, because we all came together to help each other through this and we made it. I'm not sure I could do anything about what happened in my life. I was not prepared at all, I had all the signs and didn't even pay attention to what was going on around me. Not really it's hard for me to make a good narrative in such little time because I always make a lot of mistakes and sometimes it hard for me to fix them.

My comment about the personal narratives is that it was hard. the planner was not that hard it made it less hard but thinking about the one moment that changed my life. It took me some time to think back what that moment. This was harder then the biography. I would rather do a biography then a personal narratives.

The subject I'm writting about is my sensitive subject and describes the most intense pain I ever felt. I greatly describe detailed memories of moments when I hurt myself, hurt others, and faced a part of myself I never thought would get unleashe.
Most of the time that it was written, a key character from the story was sitting right next to me,half the time reading as it was wrote.
I ended up breaking into a few conversations about the event with him.

I found writing my personal narrative I found difficult. I found it difficult because I have never been able to really find a good event to choose to focus the narrative on. Or it is just I have difficultly writing a personal narrative. What ever it is I always have trouble writing a personal narrative.
Coming up with the event was kinda easy but it was difficult to focus on the details leading up the the event. It seems like I had forgotten so much of what happened that had lead up to that event. But finally i focused on it. And after that my rough draft of my personal really seem to come along. Especially after i had finished it.
When we went over them in class i had noticed that i had left out some important details in my personal narrative.

My final piece isn't just a rgular personal narritive it's the greatest narritive of all time I mean it took me for ever to write out. The planner helped me alot though. When it came to writeing the draft. I believe my writing skills are now phenominal. I'm a writeing genius now thanks to Mr.Parsons and his methods of writing. If I could have improved anything on my piece though I would have made it more descriptive and longer I missed a day when we were working on them which didn't help at all. I still managed to pull it of though. I guess i'm just a writing God.

The hardest part about writing a personal narrative would have to be thinking of an idea. Or thinking of all the great ones and having to choose from them. my hardest part was most defiantly picking from all of my great summer adventures. But in the end it all came to me and my hand began to flow with the lines of the paper. My most enjoyable part would have to be looking back at my summer with Kala and remembering all the great things that we did and the obstacles that we overcame together. It was by far the best summer of my life. I am happy with the way that my story came out all though I think that I could have had. I think that it did help me grow as a person because I faced a lot of my fears and I did it with a very dear friend of mine. I do like writing personal narratives.

When writing my personal narrative i felt like it was hard to choose what story to write about. I felt like there were so many good stories to pick form. when i finally got to pick one i didn't know where to start.
i am happy with my final piece, well what i have done of it. it did help me grow a little bit, by respecting my dad a little bit more than what i have been. Remembering that he will always be there for me no matter what.
If i could improve anything in my story, it would be to let people know about the difficulties that me and my dad had before that whole basketball thing started. I think that if i wanted to go back in time the one thing that i would change would be. Not to stop playing basketball. I wish that i never stopped i also wish that my dad could be home more than he is. That way i could still play.
My dad is the only reason that i stopped playing. He was the one to supported me through my while time playing.

hello mr. parson this is shelby worthington i just want to say that i thought the writting was a little hard but i liked reflecting on the past it reminded me of what not to do. I didnt like writing though but who does, anyways i would just like to say i had a little fun with the project. Athough like i said i am not a fan of writing but i like to write this kind of writing it was okay because of what i wrote it was about something that i believe will get me somewhere in life. I am a firm beleiever that the little things in life are that put people down. life is hard no one really understand until they have to live. I dont consider myself the poorist kid on the block but i have had to put some things back on the shelf before. Well to sum it all up i would just like to say that i liked writing this story it helped me remember to look to when i need someone to give me advice.

It took awhile to write, and it was really hard to write. But writing about one of the important times in my life has really helped me to reflect on it. And think about how much it has changed in my life, and how important it was to make me the person that I have grown to be today. Thats why I am rathere glad I took out the time to write and reflect on that piece. Not only for the grade but also for thinking and rethinking how it has change me as a person.
Even though I very much dislike writing about my life. I do like writing fiction some not alot but some. But this time I feel it was good for me to write about my life. I didn't like it cause it was hard, but still it was good for me.

In 7th period i have been working incredibally hard on my personal narrative , so it will be good and interesting for to reader, mr parsons had us wright out notes to have are narriatvies sounding good and not boring . we had to write notes describing are introduction and are conclusion and are failling action ever to are rising action , he had us call that are planner, we kinda had to write a short story about whats going to happen , i ran threw some hard parts like how was i going to start out my story and what all should i put in it . then i started to right my story and i started to have those memmories come back to me and it was sad , but the story turned out to be good cause mr parsons is a good teacher and told us how to wright a good personal narritive and he made us wrok very hard and take it seriuosly , thats why most of the calss will turn out to have great storys GOOD LUCK STUDENTS)

writing my narrative i thought was going to be easy for me at first, but by the third time that i had to re-write it, it became less fun. thinking of something to write about was pretty much simple for me but detailing it wasn't so simple for me only because i dont really have the best memory. even though it was kinda hard, i am happy with the finished piece. in a way it was kinda cool that we wrote a personal narrative because we had the chance to take a trip in our minds back to an event in our lives and remember something that helped us grow as writers. writing this piece ti dont think that ive grown any as a writer.

While writing my personal it took me a long time to think of what I have over came from. i cant explain in details about what i was thinking because this happened to me in the summer. But i finally thought of an idea. I hope i dont have a lot of mistakes in my writing piece. My hardship was actually having the guts to go to the boat and rising up in the sky. I am short and like most short people, i am not like hardcore terrified of hieght i am just a little though. Then their are the movies that i have seen and they have bad endings to them. I overcame my fear of doing something new in my life for once. also it feels good to go out their in the world to try new things that i have never in my life would even think of doing. But in the end the experience was really fun and next year is gonna be ever better for me, because I am doing something else that i never i would do.

My comment about my personal narrative is that it was hard because i made alot of mistakes in my narrative. It confused me when i was diong the planner beacuse i had to make sure i didnt leave anything out and get everything in the right order.
Im satissfied about my narrative/final peice,it helped me be happy about sometimes sharing a birthday with my little brother.
If i could improve anything it would be to let people know how important family really is even though they get on your nerves sometimes.

Writing my personal narrative was a really fun thing to do. It was fun to me because I liked my topic about scouting. when i wrote my personal narrative i had some mistakes but i think it was pretty good. the other day when we grouped up i read Sarah Watters personal narrative. It was really good. I really am glad that i recieved eagle scout thats a lot of hard work to accomplish it. I talked about when i was a young scout and even till i redieved eagle scout. i am so glad that the work finally paid off.

Writing my personal narrative was hard. I had trouble remembering my past because I forget most of it. This was the only thing i remember that really showed me a different way. This was harder then what i expected my final draft was much better though. I made many mistakes on my rough draft. This moment in my life was one o the most painful times of my life physically. A narrative helps people reflect on life and remember how important it was. The writing process was difficult because its hard putting words were actions are. But in the end i think this one of the best pieces i ever wrote.
