Mr. Parsons said...

It's easy to be confused. It's difficult to try to work out the problem.

You are to write your own example of Exercise #1. There are examples on there of what this should look like.

You are them to build on it for Exercise #2. There are also examples on there of what this should look like.

Get unconfused, and roll with it. See you Monday. :)

Mr. Parsons

P.S. If you are stressed about it, bring in your attempt at the assignment on Monday and we can discuss it then.

**SORRY THIS ISNT ALL THAT GREAT, BUT I TRIED!!

EXERCISE #1

Ive been trying to get ahold of you all day?!

Im sorry, I had some things to do!

Things to do? What sort of things take up the whole day?

Just some things for work, not a big--

Listen, theres something I need to tell you.

Well, what about?

Our relationship is getting worse and worse every--

I TOLD YOU I WAS BUSY WITH WORK!

O im sorry are you feeling a bit guilty for something because i was just talking about how our relationship with our daughter is getting worse and worse everyday and how we need to spend more time with her.

Nothing is wrong with me, and your right we do!

Well it seems that she is.. is--

Is what?

We just need to go have a talk with her.. she is changing..

What do you mean she is changing? into what?

she just isnt the same, come inside it is cold out here.

EXERCISE #2

As I pulled into the driveway, I was trying to think of the best excuse. Anything would do, as long as he didn't think I was with Ryan. I jumped out of the car, but before I could make it peacefully into the house Steve ran into me.

"Ive been trying to get ahold of you all day!" He said with an expression full of worry.

"Im sorry, I had some things to do!" I knew this wasn't good enough. I needed something better to say.

"Things to do!" He exclaimed out of anger,"What sort of things take all day?"

My brain was running 100 miles an hour, trying to think of the right thing to say. My face turned red as I lied my way out.

"Just some things for work not a big--," He cut me off.

"Listen, theres something we need to talk about." When he said this my heart dropped to the ground. I knew that something bad had happened when he said this to me.

"Well, what about?" I tried to stay calm.

"Our relationship is getting worse and worse every--"

I could do nothing but interrupt him. Theres no way he could find out.

"I TOLD YOU I WAS BUSY WITH WORK!" My anger took control of me. My face was blood red at this point.

Then he said,"O im sorry are you feeling a bit guilty for something because i was just talking about how our relationship with our daughter is getting worse and worse everyday and how we need to spend more time with her."

I had no idea what he was talking about. All of a sudden I realized that he was right. Theres never enough time to spend with Alissa.

"Nothing is wrong, but you are right, we do." I said, glad that he didn't know about me and Ryan.

"It seems that she is, is--"

"Is what?" Now, I was worried.

"We need to go have a talk with her. She is just changing."

"Into what?" I was curious to know what exactly he was concerned about.

"Come inside it is cold out here."

As I followed behind him and entered the living room, I could not believe what I saw. Alissa was setting on the couch with the most horrific outfit on. It was nothing but black with big heavy chains. I knew what was happening then, and Steve was right, we did need to have a serious talk.

Note: I attempted to make it interesting. I hope it worked.

“I didn’t expect to see you home this early,” Tom said to his wife Rebecca.

“I’m surprised to see you too,” Rebecca replied.

As they both stood in an awkward silence, they knew what each other were thinking but said nothing. Both spouses had a secret to confess to the other.

“Listen, I have something to tell…” they both started at the same time and stopped.

Neither eager to speak first, they stood and stared until Tom started his confession first.

“Listen, I know I was supposed to be at my office working, but I was off today.”

“But why did you tell me you had to go in?” Rebecca inquired.

“Honey, I lost my job three months ago,” Tom said bashfully as he bowed his head.

“Why didn’t you tell me? And how did you lose it? Where is your money coming from now?” Rebecca angrily asked.

“I couldn’t admit to you why I lost my job.”

Rebecca, utterly shocked, directed a blank stare in confusion towards Tom. She just found out what an awful husband he was, but the worst was yet to come. Also, in the back of her mind was her haunting mistake.

“I was caught in the janitors closet with Mark’s, my boss, daughter Janis and Mark fired me.” Tom said in regret. “Now I have my income from another easy and steady source.”

“Do…Do I want to know where from?” asked Rebecca.

“While in the closet, I experimented with some mind altering substances. You know, you can make pretty good money by selling them. Also, sports games are easy to make wagers on too.”

Rebecca turned away with a feeling of hate of what she had done and what Tom had just revealed. As she thought to herself, ‘So now my husband is a liar, cheater, gambler, and worst of all a drug user. What do I do now? Do I admit my secret to him? No, I can’t. But I have too. He’s told me so much.’

Rebecca finally came up with the decision to confess when the time is right. But a time for this confession would be doubtful.

“Well, now it’s your turn.” Tom pleaded, “Why are you home?”

“I left my jacket this morning because I was in a hurry and I came back by to pick it up,” Rebecca said deceivingly.

Tom directed his demanding and evil stare towards Rebecca. She knew in an instant that he did not buy it.

“Listen, I won’t be seeing you for a while,” she explained. Then Rebecca leaned in and hugged her beloved husband, gave him a kiss, and added, “Don’t worry, your problem is taken care of. I love you.

“I’m going to my parents’ house and then I’ll be gone…. I’m going to miss you.” Rebecca informed Tom.

Tom, puzzled, watched his wife drive away down the street. Tom was utterly confused on what his wife had said, and most of all why she was home so early.

Later that evening, while watching the evening news, Tom heard the anchorman report,
“A double homicide took place today downtown. A father and daughter by the names of Mark and Janis Smith were brutally murdered. The unknown suspect is still on the loose.”

Exercise#2
It was a blustery winter day. On a suburban street a very devoted husband comes home to find his wife gone. He searched the whole house and then on his way back out he finds her coming up the street. “ Where have you been, I came home today because I needed to tell you something.” She shuffled her feet nervously while she listened to him talk. “ Oh really, what? I’m sorry I just had to run out somewhere, nothing important.” By this time he started to get suspicious of his wife. They had been married for fifteen years and for the past few months she had began to act strange. “ Honey is something going on that you would like to talk about.” He was hoping that he would persuade her into confessing to what he thought was already true. “ No why do I seem to act funny to you? What do you want to talk about?”
He was dreading to have to tell her but he just went for it. “ Well I came home today to tell you that I got fired from my job.” He studied her and was really surprised by her reaction. “ Really, well that’s a shame you’ll just have to find another job.” He was shocked. “ Boy you sound like your not even worried at all.” “ Well there’s something else I have to say.” He was really beginning to worry about her now. She was so nervous that she knocked over her favorite vase and broke it. “ Oh crap, what do you need to say now?” He walked to her and began to help her clean up the mess. “ Are you sure that your alright?” She was shaking like a leaf. “ Yeah sure, go on dear.” “ Well were out of money too.” Again he studied her reaction, she just blew him off and said, “ Well don’t worry honey we’ll work it out.”
He thought about her for a while “ you are completely cool about all this.” “ What is up with you?” He was fed up with this and wanted some answers. “ Nothing really, maybe I might have had something to do with the fact you got fired today.” He was really curious about this now. “ Really, how in the world could you have anything to do with this?” He waited and was thinking, how in the world. She was setting there now and was nearly in tears. She couldn’t hide it any longer. “ I might have been cheating on you with your boss, and he wanted me to himself so he fired you.” He was about to explode with anger. “ What the heck are you talking about?” She just set there and said it again “ I have been sleeping with your boss for the past year.” After he heard her it took him some time to realize all his accusations were true. “ Oh my god, how could you do this to me?” She just looked at him and said “ well you’re never at home and I had to do something.” He sank in the chair and turned to her in devastation, “ for gods sakes take up sewing or something.” She looked at him as if he were crazy. “ Oh now lets not get petty shall we.” He was fuming now and wanted her out of his site. “ Well maybe we should just end it here and now since I’m not good enough for you.” She got up and began to pack. Then she headed for the door but before she left she said, “ Well your boss will keep me warm tonight.” She walked out and afterwards he realized that he wasted fifteen years of his life. He realized that she just married him to get to his boss.

“ We’re out of money as well.”
“ Well don’t worry about it honey we’ll work it out.”
“You are completely cool about all this.”
“ What’s up with you?”
“ Nothing really, maybe I might have a slight bit to do with you being fired”
“ Really, how in the world could you have anything to do with this?”
“ I might have been cheating on you with your boss and he wanted you out of the picture so he fired you.”

Then Felicity said, “It’s just…you weren’t supposed to be home?
“Well um …hey why are you not home like you supposed to be?”
“Because I had to leave.” Felicity replied as she bundle up his jacket around her.
“Why and for what.” Adam asked loudly.
“It’s none of your business!” Felicity fired back.
“Yes it is I am your husband and I have a right to know.” Adam said as if it were a part of the law to know your spouses business.
“Well if you have to know than once you tell me why your home than I’ll tell you.”
“I won’t tell you until you say first where you’ve been!”
“Ok I guess you’ll learn soon enough.” She said.
“What is it?” He asked her.
“I just came from a job interview for a job at where you work.”
“Why are you wanting to work at my business for?”
“Sorry, I thought you’d be happy that know we can be together all the time.”
“It was just a job interview right, your not sure you got the job.” He asked her worriedly as if this was going to be a problem.
“Yea it was a job interview but they said my resume looked so good that they hired me right on the spot”
“Oh man” Adam said quietly
“What did you say?”
“I’m happy for you honey.”
“Let’s go in and have a bottle a wine for this happy occasion.”
“Yea sure.” “That was close.” He muffled under his breath
They walked inside and she grabbed a bottle of their finest red wine out of the cabinet. As he grabbed the glasses carefully so he would not drop them. They both sat down at the table next to the kitchen. He poured the wine into the glasses and raised them.
Felicity said “Lets have a toast for this happy occasion!”
“For your new job.” Adam toasted.
“And for my amazing husband I have.”
Toasted the glass of wine and accidentally spilled some upon the oak wood table.
“I’ll clean it up”
“I will clean it up.”
“I will clean it.” While running to get a paper towel
“I am usually the one who cleans anyway.”
Why soaking up the wine she glanced under the table.
“What it this?”
“Um it looks like a women’s shirt, it must be yours.” Adam replied cautiously knowing what it was.
“No it isn’t mine for it is to small to fit me. What are you hiding?”
“Nothing, I swear.” Adam said.
“You are lying tell me the truth.”
“I cannot,” He blurted out fast.
“You have been cheating on me and we have been married fifteen years, what else are you hiding I can see it in your eyes. “
“You threw it all away over a woman.” “I’ll never forgive you, never!”
“Your wrong I did not have an affair, honeys please don’t go.”
“Were getting a divorce and am leaving you to that woman.”
She slammed the door behind her as she later did do what she exclaimed to do.

Exercise #1
Hey honey, what are you doing home so early?

I came home early today, I was having some trouble at work. Where have you been? I thought you would be home?

I was uh..at the gym. That is why I look so messed up. I have been working out a lot lately while you have been at work. That’s why I am not home much lately, and that’s why I don’t always answer the phone when you call from work.

Yea, well work was tough today. The guys were really giving me a hard time about something important.

Oh my gosh!! Why did you not tell me that I look so horrible? My hair is really messed up. Those workouts are tough.

Johanna, I am trying to..

OMG I need to go inside and fix my hair before the neighbors see me like this.

Well let’s get you inside. You sure dress in some skimpy clothes to be working out. Are you sure that you have been “working out” baby? Because I did not think that the gym was open. I thought that they have been remodeling.

Uhm I went to the gym on the other side of town, where all of the great trainers are.

Baby, there is something that I need to tell you, and you may not take it that well. It may come as a shock to you.

Oh, I have something to tell you also. A couple of girlfriends and I are going on a trip, leaving tomorrow morning and we will be back the day after tomorrow. It is a girl’s only trip, or I would have invited you to go. So I would really appreciate it if I received no phone calls while I am gone.

Well, if you would listen to me, then you would not have to worry about that.

What do you mean Joe? Are you having an affair too? I mean are you having and affair today?

No Johanna. I would never do that to you. I wanted to tell you that my feelings have changed. Not just towards you but towards…

Oh my god, so now your feelings have changed about me and the other lady! Who is this woman?

Baby you NEED to listen to me! I am trying to tell you that I think I am gay. There. Are you happy? I finally got it out of my system. My god, its hard to tell you anything without you freaking out on me.

WHAT? After fifteen years of marriage you finally figure out that you are gay! Oh my god! I should have known after I came home and saw you putting on my make up. I should not have listened to you whenever you said that you were just trying it on to see why I wear that stuff! I should have known!

Yea just go cheat on me some more with your trainer! I already knew about everything. This whole gay act was to see if you actually cared about me. So, obviously you don’t. Also, whenever I was putting on your make up that day, I was covering up a hickie that your sister had given to me at our Christmas Party. So, go have fun with your trainer, while I have fun with your sister!

Exercise #2
“Hey Honey, what are you doing home so early? You weren’t expected to be home for a couple of hours,” said Johanna stepping out of the cab. She looked like a mess with her all messed up, and her make up smeared everywhere.

“I came home early today, I was having some trouble at work. Where have you been? I thought you would be home?” Said Joe, acting very suspicious.

“I was..uhh…at the gym. That is why I look so messed up. I have been working out a lot lately while you have been at work. That’s why I am not home that much lately, and that’s why I don’t always answer the phone when you call from work.

“Yea, well work was tough today. The guys were really giving me a hard time about something important. ” Johanna looked in the window and said, “Oh my gosh!! Why did you not tell me that I look so horrible? My hair is really messed up. Those workouts are tough!”

Joe Said, “Johanna, I am trying to..” “OMG I need to go inside and fix my hair before the neighbors see me like this!” Johanna yelled, interrupting Joe while he was trying to tell her something very important. “Well lets get you inside. You sure dress in some skimpy clothes to be working out.” Joe said, acting very suspicious.

“Are you sure that you have been “working out” Johanna? Because I did not think that the gym was open. I thought that they have been remodeling.” Joe said, acting very suspicious. “Uhm I went to the gym on the other side of town, where all of the great trainers are.” Johanna remarked, very quickly.

The couple walks into the house. Johanna walks into the bathroom connected to their bedroom, trying to fix her hair and make up. Joe follows right behind her.

“Baby, there is something that I need to tell you, and you may not take it that well. It may come as a shock to you.” Joe said. “Oh, I have something to tell you also. A couple of girlfriends and I are going on a trip, leaving tomorrow morning and we will be back the day after tomorrow. It is a girl’s only trip, or I would have invited you to go. “No Johanna. I would never do that to you. I wanted to tell you that my feelings have changed. Not just towards you but towards..” Joe started to say when Johanna interrupted him with saying, “ Oh my god, so now your feelings have changed about me and the other lady! Who is this woman?”

“Johanna you NEED to listen to me! I am trying to tell you that I think I am gay. There. Are you happy? I finally got it out of my system. My god, its hard to tell you anything without you freaking out on me.” Joe exclaimed.

I should not have listened to you whenever you said that you were just trying it on to see why I wear that stuff! I should have known!” Johanna screamed.

Johanna starts walking out into the garage screaming and saying that she is leaving. Joe follows her and replies with, “Yea just go cheat on me some more with your trainer! I already knew about everything. This whole gay act was to see if you actually cared about me. So, obviously you don’t. Also, whenever I was putting on your make up that day, I was covering up a hickie that your sister had given to me at our Christmas Party. So, go have fun with your trainer, while I have fun with your sister.”

Johanna leaves and ends up getting married to her trainer three months later. Joe moves on, and apparently jinxed himself, because he figured out six weeks later that he really is interested in guys.

Honey where have you been?

Oh I was just out running some errands. Say, what are you doing home anyway?

I got halfway to work before I realized I left my briefcase on the counter so I had to come home and get it.

Well while you’re here, would you like to get some lunch? I have pork chops I need to --

No I have to get back to work.

How’d you get here?

She gave me a ride over.

Huh. That’s odd. I though you said she moved to Cincinnati.

Did I? She gave me a ride over here so she must not have,” Bob chuckled obnoxiously. She no longer works in my office, but Cincinnati? Jesus, you’re dumb sometimes. I mean look at you, it’s December and you’re not even wearing a coat. Such a blonde.

I can’t take much more of this you know? I’m home all day with the kids and the least you could do is treat me with some respect.

There’s my ride. I’m sorry about everything I’m just so tense with work. I’ll see you tonight; you go get working on those pork chops, all right?

I love you.

Exercise 2

“Honey where have you been?” Bob asked as he felt a feeling of slight panic rise in his throat.

“Oh I was just out running some errands. Say, what are you doing home anyway?” Melanie asked with a slight hint of confusion in her voice.

“I got halfway to work before I realized I left my briefcase on the counter so I had to come home and get it.”

“Well while you’re here, would you like to get some lunch?” she asked sweetly. “I have pork chops I need to -- ”

“No I have to get back to work,” he snapped rudely.

The two just stared at each other as the icy wind whipped around them. A silver Honda pulled up silently on the street behind them. In it sat Arlene, Bob’s former assistant.

“Huh. That’s odd. I thought you said Arlene moved to Cincinnati,” Melanie stated.

“Did I? Well she gave me a ride over here so she must not have,” Bob chuckled obnoxiously. “She no longer works in my office, but Cincinnati Melanie? Jesus, you’re dumb sometimes. I mean look at you, it’s December and you’re not even wearing a coat. Such a blonde.”

“I can’t take much more of this you know?” she whispered tears forming in her eyes. “I’m home all day with the kids and the least you could do is treat me with some respect.”

At that moment, Arlene rolled down the window, “Come on Bob! Oh, hi Melanie, good to see you again.”

Before Melanie could respond or even rationalize what was happening, Bob interrupted her, “That’s my ride.” He kissed her softly on the head. “I’m sorry about everything I’m just so tense with work. I’ll see you tonight; you go get working on those pork chops, all right?”

“I love you,” Melanie replied instinctively, because despite everything, it was true.

Bob sauntered around the car to get in the passenger seat while the Honda sped down the road and to the right. Melanie trudged up the steps and went to the kitchen where she saw Bob’s briefcase. And then she put the pieces together. The car didn’t even go in the right direction of the office.

When Bob returned home that night, he found a note lying on the dining room table. It read, “I know you were probably too busy to notice today but I was dressed up. I’ve been to the doctor and I’m pregnant. But you won’t have to worry about that now. I’ve got most of the kid’s stuff and mine and I’m not planning on ever coming back. PS: Don’t go to the bank, I’ve emptied out all your accounts, even the joint one you and Arlene had saving up to go to California. Love, Melanie.”

(Note to everyone reading this, IDK what I am doing)
Ashley viewed her surroundings while chewing upon her nails and tapping her foot with caution. She watched, waited, and listened for gossip about herself or on others. Her attention was drawn to the front door as she watched her best friend Haylee hurry in to make the first school bell.
“Hey Haylee! How was your weekend?” asked Ashley nervously. She knew precisely how Haylee’s weekend had gone and it wasn’t very great.
“Well, Friday was alright. Me and Corey went to the ballgame and we had an awesome time!” exclaimed Haylee. Ashley felt the tension building up in her mind, body, and soul. She longed to just speak her mind and tell Haylee the truth. “Then on Saturday I had to stay home because I got into some trouble with my parents, when I was supposed to go to a party with Corey.” Corey was her boyfriend for almost three years at the time.
Then through Ashley’s mind came a flashback of Saturday night, of the very party that herself and Corey attended, without Haylee. She saw herself drinking with no mercy. She drank natural light beer, miller-lite, Smirnoff vodka, and she smoked weed, cigars, and was completely gone at a state of mind. She was physically there, but mentally not. Corey had been the same way, but not near as bad. He knew what he was doing. As he approached the bedroom with Ashley wrapped around him.
“Oh my gosh Ashley! You could at least listen to me when I am going through an emotional break down,” screeched Haylee. Ashley noticed her eyes tearing up. “Saturday night I got a call from Corey and he was really upset about something. He told me he had betrayed me and that we had to break up, so he wouldn’t hurt me again. What could he be talking about Ashley? Everyone knows that he is my territory. There is no way he could of cheated on me,” stressed Haylee.
The guilt was becoming to hard for Ashley to handle. She felt herself growing weaker and breaking down. The flashbacks kept repeatedly playing in her mind, with no end. Then some more flashbacks of all the great times she had ever had with Haylee. She couldn’t fess up. She could not speak the truth without losing her best friend in the entire world and maybe many other friends. Yes, she had made a mistake, but could she tell? Would she tell? Would Corey tell? All these questions ran through her mind irritating until she could no longer stand it.
“Haylee, shut up! Corey cheated on you!” blurted out Ashley. “The party that Corey went to on Saturday I also attended and while intoxicated, Corey cheated on you. Not just with anyone, he cheated on you with me and I am not sorry.” Haylee’s expression was both anger and sorrow. Her eyes held no tears, her nostrils flared outward, and her mouth curved downward. He fists were clinched stuck to her sides, her feet and legs enclosed together, and her shoulders slightly slumped. She walked away and never spoke to Ashley again.

She rang the doorbell and waited for her husband to answer the door. Why did I forget my keys today? She thought. It’s freezing out here. Suddenly the door swung open and her husband’s figure appeared in front of her. Madeline was hoping for a much more greeting expression after her long day in the office. But instead, her husband’s face was long and gloomy.

“Hey honey.” He said. She gazed at him a couple moments longer then replied. “Let’s go in. I’m cold.” She knew bad news was coming, her husband took the day off work to visit the doctor. He hadn’t been feeling well for a while, but wanted to maintain his manliness as long as possible. “What did the doctor have to say?’ questioned Madeline.

“You should probably sit down for this.” Ahh classic. How many times has that line been used in the history of spousal conflicts? she asked herself rhetorically as she removed her gloves and placed them on the small table in the hall.
“Okay I’m ready. What is it?” urged Madeline. Her husband paced around the room while accumulating his thoughts. Finally he spoke. “I don’t understand what is happening or why or how this came about, but the doctor has informed me that I have HIV.” Flabbergasted, Madeline threw herself to the back of the couch. The topic had never been brought up before, why was it happening now? She wondered. “Oh. My. God.” Were the only words she could muster together that made her sound somewhat concerned.

“I know baby.” He was calm; “the doctor diagnosed me as a victim of at least three years. I have had HIV for at least three years!” Not so calm now… “And I am just now aware of it!” He rambled on and on continuing to pace frantically. Madeline couldn’t pay attention to her husband whatsoever. Her mind was elsewhere. She knew exactly how he received HIV: from her. The two had been married for 10 years and in the seventh year she cheated on him.

Together, they made a pretty good amount of money, and the lack of children helped. Madeline had always wanted to hire people to do the “work around the house” as she called it. Her high income allowed her to do so. The groundskeeper was in his late twenties, had a wonderful body and she couldn’t keep her thirty-five year old hands off of him. They had only slept together a few times, but that was more than enough. During their affair he had given her HIV, and she passed it on to her husband. For the past three years Madeline had been relying on her husband’s “I don’t need a doctor” front to save her. She visited the doctor regularly so that her HIV didn’t become aids, but she obviously didn’t care about her husband enough to inform him.

“This just doesn’t happen to people like me. I don’t get it. I just don’t understand why this is happening” He finished.
“You have no idea.” Concluded Madeline.

“Hey honey, where are you going.” I asked him.
“I got a call to work the night shift. Where were you all day?”
“Um well I…I was at the…the--.” He cut me off before I could finish.
“Well spit it out already , where were you!”
“Ok calm down, I’ll tell you.”
Oh my god what am I going to tell him, come on think of something, the doctors no no, how about the grocery store, no I don’t have any groceries, ok I got it.
“Your mother called and wanted to take the kids so we can have a night to ourselves.”
“ Oh she did really, my mother?” With a smile on his face.
“Would I lie to you?”
It starts to snow heavily outside. The temperature is dropping rapidly, Its at least 36 degrees out.
I couldn’t help but shiver then I realized that my husband noticed.
“Where’s your jacket at?” He went to go get it out of my car when, he froze right beside the drivers side, of the car, he saw a small girl no older than five with a baby doll in her hands. She was crying.
“Daddy.” Said the little girl.
“Hey baby girl, everything is going to be alright.” As he spoke to his daughter, he started to move closer to me, with a angry but sad look on his face.
“ What, how, I can explain--I cut him off before he could get another word out.
“Yeah, I know about your little daughter, who‘s the other women?”
“It’s not like that at all.” trying to defend himself
“ really than what happened.” I asked him
“ I found her one night wandering the streets, on my way home form work, a few month’s ago. She was hurt pretty bad, so I took her to the hospital. She was homeless. She had no where else to go to so I asked my sister if she wouldn’t mind taking her in, for a little while at least until I found her a good home.”
“You kept this from me!”
“I’m sorry, please forgive me.”
“How could you hide this from me, me of all people I’m your wife.”
“You were already stressed out with work, I didn’t want to burden you, I’m so sorry honey please forgive me?” It started to snow really heavily now.
“NO! I don’t believe you” I started to unbuckle the child and got her out of the car, then I got in drove away. Fast.

“Are you cold?” asked the man in a business suit that just came home from work to find his wife standing outside in just a tank top and skinny jeans. It was a cold winter day. It wasn’t snowing but it was freezing.
“No I’m alright.” she said looking directly at the ground in a monotone voice. She was rubbing her arms viciously to keep some body warmth. Thinking on his thoughtful, charismatic husbandy feet he suggested an alternative to staying out in the cold. “Come on. Lets go inside.”
“Okay.” she nodded still in a monotonic voice. They started up the steps to their dream house and opened the door. They were already inside sitting in their own living room on their couch.
“So I have a story.” the husband shouted with glee interrupting the awkward silence between the two. “Lets hear it,” her voice was enthusiastic but her body language was quite depressed.
“Okay so you know how I cheated on you like two years ago? Well I totally had a chance to today and I totally did not do it. Her @$$ was all up in my face and she was saying things like “I want you so bad.” and I was all like “No thank you.” so she got peeved and left.”
“Well… that’s good I guess,” surprisingly she took this as routine. Instead of yelling back at her husband with a “Why the (expletive) do you keep getting around these women?” she just stared at the doorway. Her arms were still clung to herself.
“What’s wrong you seem distracted?”
“Well there seem to be a lot of these stories lately.”
“Yeah but see I’ve learned to say no. It’s like those drug ads. Only it’s not “Hug Not Drugs” it’s “Say NO to HOs for you have one at home.” he said searching for approval that what he did was a big step in their relationship. The reaction he got was shockingly alarming. She was silent. “Well you seem really distracted what’s wrong? You can tell me.”
“No it’s nothing.” You could the lie in this statement.
“You look, and excuse if I’m wrong, ashamed.”
“No. It’s nothing. I promise,” she shouted in hopes that the increased volume would convince but it only alarmed him even more. He started to stand up but his hand slipped on something peculiar.
“Eww what’s this? Oh my God is that a used condom?”
“Yes.”
“Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Gross,” he exclaimed while storming out and slamming the door.

Woman: “Hey, what are you doing home? I just mean what a pleasant surprise.” She says in a shocked tone. He’s not supposed to be home all day I’m so busted!!! She says to herself.
Man: “Oh yeah surprises, I love surprises!” he says frantically. Oh no she is going to find out after all these years she’s going to find out.
Woman: “Yeah, but as pleasant as a surprise as this is, why are you home?” she said inquiringly?
Man: “what is this twenty questions or something?!” he exclaimed.
Woman: “Why are you being so defensive? She says with her hands on her hips. Let’s go inside before the neighbors hear. It’s freezing out here anyway.” She says motioning toward the door.
Woman: “Well…” she said hip cocked to one side expecting an answer.
Man: “I just came home to…umm…tidy up.” He said this though he said it in an unconvincing tone. He stumbled around in attempt to pick up the living room that was in complete disarray.
Woman: “The house is a mess. What’s going on?” she said with her voice rising.
Man: “Well…umm…let’s start with you I have a few questions of my own, for starters why are you dressed like that?” he said in a superior tone. To himself; “finally now I have the upper hand”
Woman: “I don’t know what you mean,”
Man: “Oh don’t play dumb with me! You’re dressed like its summer time.” To him self; shoo she’s finally off my trail.”
Woman: “Well…I was hot today! It’s that a problem?!” She said in an even louder more defensive tone.
Man: “But outside you said you were cold! Where were you ?! You were supposed to be home all day!” to himself; “Yes she is totally off my trail!!! But now I wonder what she is hiding”
Woman: “Well…I…I didn’t want to tell you this but…; her voice strains a little as she chokes out these words; I race ostriches in Phoenix, Arizona.” To herself; well there it is I cant take it back now.
Man: “ oh okay well that’s fine honey I’ just going to go in there.. to himself I’m home free now!!!
Woman: “ Wait don’t you want to talk about this? I have been hiding it for a while. To herself; hmmm… well maybe it’s not that big of a deal im glad I have such an understanding husband”
Man: “ Oh that’s fine honey just be careful. I mean we all have our secrets. To himself; well now just to sneak Jeff out the back door.

As Rico was pacing the living room floor, the door burst open.

"AHHHHH!!!" he yelled.

"OMIGOSH!!!!" screamed the woman.

"Holy cow Nancy you scared me!"

"Sorry i didnt expect you home."

"I know ive-"

"wait a sec...why are ou home?"

"i uh..."

"Aww you got the day off!"

Rico started to rethink his decision. Maybe he shouldn't tell his wife he quit his job to become a free-lance painter. He could plead with his boss for his job back, and this could all blow over. No. It had to be done, it was his dream.

"Not exactly....Wait...where were you? and why are you wearing shorts??"

Nancy's job required quick thinking, and undetectable lying. She was an international spy while her husband was at work. Technically speaking, he didn't need a job, she had millions stored away. But he couldnt find out about her secret career. She had just fineshed a mission in spain, and hadnt had time to change into winter cloths yet.

"I went to the greenhouse, you know, always warm in there!"

"uh huh...did you get anything?"

"no, they didnt have the pretty ones i really like, you know the ones."

"ok well i've gotta tell you something."

Even though he didnt completely believe what she said, he didnt want to start a new problem, since the secret he already had would get him in enough hot water.

"I didn't get the day off."

"Sooo that means you...."

"Quit.."

"Gasp!"

She had to keep her cover. of corse it didn't matter that he quit. They had tons of cash he didnt even know about. However, If she was perfectly fine with having no income he would definately get a little suspicious.

"I know it seems rediculous, but its my dream! I had to quit. I neady to give my art a chance!"

"You quit to be a...a... PAINTER?!"

"Dont be to m-"

"I need some time to think... Im going back to the greenhouse."

Brenda pulled up to her house with a gigantic smirk on her face. For the first time in her monotonous life she felt needed. She parked the car and peered out her side window as she tried to parallel park. All of a sudden her eyes spotted her husband and she slammed the brake in shock, making a shrieking sound that echoed throughout the neighborhood. He was not supposed to be home this early. She stepped out of her car, one high heel at a time. Her husband had an awkward look on his face as he stared at her especially delightful appearance.
He said, “Where were you? I thought you were gonna be home all day?”
“That’s what I was planning on doing.” She was almost certain he’d ask where she had been, and as clever as she was, she knew she could not come up with a lie so quickly.
“So where’d you go?”
“Nowhere really. Just here and there.” She knew that excuse wouldn’t cut it. She couldn’t believe that all she could think of was a simple expression. She should have never of been where she was in the first place.
“Well, you’re dressed awfully nice, as nice as I’ve seen you dressed in a long time.”
“Thanks, but I need to go and get dinner started. I wasn’t planning on you’re being home so early.”
“Well I sure wasn’t either,” softly laughed her husband, Joe. He had to interject because he had to talk to his wife, regardless of his desire to not speak with her about what was troubling him.
“What’s so funny?” She had forgotten about what she had just done and changed her focus to her husband’s sudden humor.
“Nothing.” Joe wanted to tell her, but knew how judgmental she was. He had always worked overtime to avoid her and her constant criticism. He knew he would never be perfect in his wife’s eyes, even though he dedicated everything he could to their marriage.
“Well okay, I guess I’ll go and get dinner read, do you want---“
“I’ve gotta tell you something.” He had no idea why he blurted out those words. He didn’t have time to prepare what he was going to say to his wife. He knew she would tear him apart, but he somehow felt obligated to tell her; his instinct-like love for her outdid his wit.
“What? What’s wrong?” Brenda hoped what Joe had to say wasn’t serious and made herself believe it would be a minor problem of some sort. Deep down, however, she knew it must be serious for him to approach her in the manner that he did. She saw this as the perfect distraction to her not being home and having no sound excuse for being out.
“Umm… why don’t you just get dinner ready and we can talk after that, I mean ---“
“No, now’s the perfect time.”
“But I just---“
“But I just what?
“I got fired!” It is with those words that he sparked an argument that he knew he could never win. She wouldn’t be rational and understand the predicament he was in. She would be unreasonable as always. He regretted his decision to tell her, if you could call it a decision.
“What,” she said, shocked by the news.
“Dammit, I said ‘I got fired’!”
“What happened?” Her worries had completely reversed. She no longer cared about what she had done just an hour before she came home.
“The boss just doesn’t need anymore help. He said he was sorry, but he just had to cut back.” After saying this, Joe nearly broke into tears, hiding his face in shame while sitting on the ground. At that instance, Brenda felt compassion for him like she hadn’t felt since their honeymoon 20 years ago. She slowly dropped down to his level and embraced him, feeling a new sympathy and love for him that hadn’t been present for such a long while.
Joe had never felt worse in his life. He had lost his pride that was entangled in his having a job. His wife comforted him until he smelled a scent. She smelled like aftershave, that all so familiar smell that played a role in his everyday life. At that instance, his mind began to ponder the question. “What’s that smell on you?”
“Oh, I don’t smell anything, but what are we gonna do?” The question was answered, even though she didn’t admit it. Her guilt was ever so evident in her switching of the subject. The tone she used was all Joe needed to know.
As Joe paused and began to stare off into space, she said, “You know we’re making ends meet as it is.”
“Don’t you think I already know that,” stated Joe as he stood up and broke her embrace over him.
“Well I can’t just let the kids raise themselves!”
“Why are you like this, on my case? It’s like you just don’t---“
“Just don’t what?”
“Love me!” He knew that this argument over his job had just reached a new level. It seemed like all the issues and problems between him and his wife began to bombard him all at once. On the other hand, his wife Brenda now realized that what she had done was wrong. Her false sense of security had been destroyed. She knew that her marriage was beginning its descent, a descent that wouldn’t end happily.
“I’m just being realistic for Christ’s sake! I can’t comfort you when the collectors are calling!” She had changed the subject because she knew there was nothing he or she could say to make things any better right now.
“You’re not the only one trying to make things work! I know all about the collectors too!”
“No you don’t! You’re never home! How could you know?” She had found the root of their problem. They could withstand anything as long as the stood united together. They could have handled Joe’s losing his job together, but they couldn’t handle it alone. The separation between them had drawn them further and further apart, leading her to do the unthinkable that very day.
“Well someone has to support this family!” He had said only what he could think of. He was the man of the house and it was his job to support the family.
“Yeah, and someone has to care for the kids!” She made the same plea that so many housewives had made before her. They both played their traditional roles in American culture, only to see those roles turn them against each other.
“There you go again, making the kids your excuse for idleness!”
“Well when you’re not home and I’m not home, what’s gonna become of our kids?” She loved her kids and had never thought about how this would affect them.
“They’ll be fine, they’re teenagers!” When Joe was growing up, he raised himself and his brother. He knew that his kids were capable of taking care of themselves if he could’ve done it back when he was young.
“Oh sure, we’ll leave them be!” Brenda no longer knew if she was arguing for her sake or for the sake of the kids.
“I’ve had enough of this. I’m in no mood to argue with you right now.” He managed to spit these words out quite rationally, considering the circumstances. Because in all truth, he had enough, and he knew he couldn’t handle all these problems being thrown at him all at once.
“Well that’s fine then. We just won’t talk about it, that makes sense!” Her misplaced sarcasm had no effect on him whatsoever.
“I said that I was in no mood, so leave me alone for Christ’s sake!” With those words, Brenda knew that it was time to back off. Thos words were made even more evident by the gigantic whole Joe had made in the wall.
And the story continues………

"Hey baby. I thought you were staying home today."

"Well I was going to, but I needed a few things from the store. And I thought you were working late today."

"My boss told me he didn't need me anymore today and to go ahead and go home."

"Great!"

"But you don't sound so happy. Is something wrong, honey?"

"No, everything's fine...I just..."

"You can tell me."

"Well, today is our anniversary and I wanted it to be really special, but I completely forgot about it. I ran to the store to see if I could fix anything up before you got home and surprise you but now your home early and I don't have any time to-"

"It's ok, honey, don't cry."

"I just wanted things to be perfect and I ruined our day."

"Of course you didn't. Everything will be ok. Can I tell you something now?"

"What? Did you forget too?"

"Of course I remembered. What kind of spouse would I be if I forgot our anniversary? It's just that I didn't have to work today at all. My boss knew it was our anniversary, so he told me last week that I could have the day off."

"What? You lied to me? But why? What were you doing? Where have you-"

"Calm down. I've just been running around all day trying to get things ready."

"Get things ready?"

"Shh. It's a surprise. I believe these are for you. Now let's go inside and get ready. We have a big night planned."

Exersice 2

As I was walking home from the store, I couldn't help but to hate myself. I knew Gabriel would understand. I have so much going on in my life right now with the baby coming in five months that it would be easy to forget. It was our anniversary and I had nothing planned. I wanted this day to be so special, and now it was ruined.

Just as I stepped into the driveway, Gabriel pulled up right behind me. Oh no, I thought, he isn't supposed to be home for another three hours. I hid my disappointment and walked over to the car to greet my husband with a kiss.

"Hey baby. I thought you were staying home today." He looked so happy. I couldn't tell if he had remembered or not.

"Well, that was the plan," I answered, "but I needed a few things from the store." I didn't know what to do. Should I mention that our anniversary is today? Should I lie and say that I remembered? To give me time to decide, I changed the subject to him. "And I thought you were working late today."

My boss told me he didn't need me anymore today and to go ahead and go home. I couldn't wait to get home to see your beautiful face again." he flashed me his breathtaking smile, then gave a me a big hug.

I tried a half convincing smile, still debating on what to say to him.

"But you don't seem so happy. Is something wrong, honey?"

I couldn't stand to see him disappointed. But telling him the truth might make him even more disappointed. "No, everything's fine...I just..."

That slight lift of his eyebrows revealed his change from disappointment to worry. "You can tell me."

I knew I could. I could tell him anything. There were no secrets between us, well, none that I knew of. And there's no point in starting a chain of lies now. "Well, today is our anniversary and I wanted it to be really special, but I completely forgot about it. I ran to the store to see if I could fix anything up before you got home and surprise you but now your home early and I don't have any time to-"

Before I could get any more words, he leaned in and gave me another hug. "It's ok, honey, don't cry."

I put my face on his chest and continued to sob like a little girl whose kitty had just ran away. "I just wanted things to be perfect and I ruined our day." Even I thought I was overreacting, but I didn't see the point in stopping myself.

"Of course you didn't. Everything will be ok." Gabriel tilted my chip up with his gentle hand until he could see my eyes. I allowed myself to relax a little when I saw that his face had softened and he was no longer upset. "Can I tell you something now?"

"What? Did you forget too?" How ironic that would be, I thought to myself.

"Of course I remembered. What kind of spouse would I be if I forgot our anniversary?" I knew he was only joking, but he saw that I didn't think that was funny, and continued his story. "It's just that I didn't have to work today at all. My boss knew it was our anniversary, so he told me last week that I could have the day off."

I guess he was keeping a secret from me. It made me wonder what else might be hiding in his mind that I knew nothing about. I should have let it go. It was one little secret, but I let my emotions get the best of me. "What? You lied to me? But why? What were you doing? Where have you-"

"Calm down." He didn't move forward to comfort me again, but he didn't step back from me like he thought I was going to hurt him. For that I was grateful. I took a breath, and showed that I was willing to listen. "I've just been running around all day trying to get things ready," he resumed.

"Get things ready?" He was not making any sense. What on Earth is he talking about, I thought.

"Shh," he whispered as he put his finger over my lips. "It's a surprise." He crawled into his car and reached into the passenger seat. "I believe these are for you," he said, as he handed me a beautiful bouquet of light purple and royal blue flowers. Our favorite colors, I noticed. "Now let's go inside and get ready. We have a big night planned."

Gabriel lead me to the front door. And all I could think about was how lucky I was to have such a wonderful husband.

Bad Timing

Susan was walking around the corner of the sidewalk. She was very cold, as she had left before grabbing a coat. She had almost reached her destination, the mailbox, when she ran into Michael. “God you scared me. What are you doing here?” she exclaimed. “I was about to ask you the same question” said Michael.
“I-I was just stopping by to get something I left.” said Mike. “What were you getting?” asked Susan. Mike was being very sneaky about something. Susan wondered what it could be, but she feared she knew.” Uh- never mind. What are you doing out here, and dressed so light” asked Mike. Susan said “I was going to check the mail.” There was a state of awkwardness between the two.
“Oh” said Mike “You should have got a coat.” “Yeah, but I’m fine” said Susan. Susan was freezing. She wanted to find out what Mike was doing. “You were supposed to be at work.” she said. “I know I just, umm, I just stopped by for a minute.” Mike stammered. Susan inquired “Why?”. “No reason.” Mike said. Susan changed the subject because she had something on her mind. “I need to tell you something.” “What?” Mike asked. “Well it’s something that’s been on my mind for a while.” Susan said indirectly. “What is it?” Mike said impatiently. “I’ll tell you later.” she said nervously. “Okay. Get back inside, it’s cold.” Mike said.
Susan was becoming very defensive. “You’re hiding something from me” she said. “No, I’m not.” Mike said in a strong voice. “Yes you are. I can tell. What is it?” Susan argued. “It’s- It’s nothing” Mike said struggling for an answer. “Yes it is. Why are you here?” Susan persisted. “I don’t-”. “Tell me!” Susan interrupted. “Nothing. What’d you want to tell me?” said Mike. Susan was becoming frustrated. She exclaimed “Don’t change the subject.”
“We’ve been married for fifteen years. Why don’t you trust me?” said Mike pitifully. “Oh don’t give me that” said Susan. “What? Anyway, what were you going to tell me?”. “I told you we’d talk tonight.” said Susan bitterly. “No, you said later.” Mike argued. “Same thing.” Susan snapped back. “You need to get back inside.” Mike said calmly. “You should be at work.” Susan replied. “Okay, I’m going. I’ll talk to you tonight.” Mike said as he was leaving. The tension between them was more than ever. Susan exclaimed “I know everything. I’m leaving you!”

Hey hunny what a surprise to see you here...

I could say the same, I thought you were feeding starving children in Africa?

Well... I was but they didnt need me anymore.

Oh really...

What about your home based computer company, you sure don't look like you've been inside all day?

Well pardon me, someone has to run errands every once in a while, I cant be a hermit.

Look hunny, I was thinking, we never get to talk anymore and we need to have a more OPEN relation!

Our relationship is fine, if I wasn't always alone it would be much better.

See that's what I wanted to talk about...

Sarah? Jessica? What are you doing here... I said I wasn't ready yet!

Umm... who are they?

My love... sweetheart... I'm married to them! I'm a morman!

Exercise 2

At the mailbox, Amy and Fred meet in shock and confusion.... each unexpecting the other's presense.

"Hey hunny what a surprise to see you here..." Fred studders!

"I could say the same, I thought you were feeding starving children in Africa?" Amy questions in a provoking tone!

"Well... I was but they didnt need me anymore." Fred thinks to himself; it has to come out!

"Oh really..." Amy questions him sounding slightly annoyed!

"What about your home based computer company, you sure don't look like you've been inside all day?"

"Well pardon me, someone has to run errands every once in a while, I cant be a hermit." Amy exclaims! How dumb is he? I have to have some reason for being out, she thinks to herself.

"Look hunny, I was thinking, we never get to talk anymore and we need to have a more OPEN relation!"

"Our relationship is fine, if I wasn't always alone it would be much better." Amy remarks bitterly, her voice slightly rising! Amy ponders, thank goodness he's never home, I would never be able to sneak out and get my job done!

"See that's what I want to talk about..." He gasps in shock as his 2other wives open the door and enter with his 6 children!!
"Sarah? Jessica?" He questions nervously, his face blushing! "What are you doing here?... I said I wasn't ready yet!"

"Umm... who are they?"

"My love... sweetheart... I'm married to them! I'm a morman!"Fred remarked, trying to act as rational as possible!

At this remark, Amy gave a half smile... she pulled out her gun and boom! Wow she thought to herself... all these years as an assassin finally payed off!!

Exercise # 2

It is a bright and beautiful day, Susan walks quickly and nervously toward Bob’s front door. Bob bursts outside with two colorful pieces of paper in his hand, he is exited and talking to himself. Susan walks up behind him and gently places he hand on his shoulder. He quickly turns around and similes as he says, “Hey I didn’t see you there!”
“Hello.” Susan quickly replies.
Bob turns around and glances up at the sky, “Well today has been a remarkable day!”, he says.
“Yeah there’s something remarkable going on here too.”, says Susan. Bob looks at Susan and smiles, and says, “Oh but what I have to say is much better believe me.”
Susan glares and says, “Oh I’m sure it is, believe me, I have nothing to tell.”
Bob looks at Susan, slightly confused with her snappy attitude and asks, “So there’s nothing new with you?”
“No, nothing except pain”, remarked Susan quietly.
Bob, who hadn’t really being paying attention to Susan but was looking up at the sky, quickly looked and Susan and yelled, “What!!!”
“Nothing...” Susan calmly replied.
So Bob, quick to change the subject, walks down the side walk in front of his house but is still talking to Susan. Bob says, “ So I have a great story to tell you.”
Susan looks up at him miserably and says, “I’m sure you do.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Asked Bob in shock of his uncaring friend.
“Nothing please continue.” Replied Susan.
Bob then starts back into is story, he says, “Well anyways, I was at the local gas station, the BP down the road…”
“ Oh please just get on with it.” Rudely interrupted Susan.
Bob stares at Susan, very annoyed, and continues, “Okay well I went there and bought two lottery tickets.”
Then Susan interrupts once again, “Oh please get to the point soon, I’ve got something to take care of!”
“Well I’m trying.” Says Bob.
“Okay.” Replies Susan.
Then Bob very irradiated once again begins to speak, “I bought two tickets like I always do then took them both home.”
Susan then stares Bob down and in a shrill voice yells, “Oh please reach a point soon!”
Bob looks at Susan, more annoyed than ever and shouts, “Fine, I’ll just say it, I won the lottery, okay are you happy now?”
“Yes!!! I’m ecstatic” says Susan.
Then Bob suddenly remembers the beginning of their conversation and asks, “ So what were you talking about?”
“Nothing its to embarrassing.” Says Susan.
Then Bob forcefully states, “What! Tell me now!”
Susan thinks for a moment then it all comes out as she says, “Fine two words, atomic wedgie.”
Bob glares at Susan disgustedly and yells, “TMI!” at the top of his lungs and reenters his home.

Exercise #2:
BOOM! He was up. That familiar noise rang throughout Oscar's ears. She was just now arriving home, and he had yet to make it to his office, due to, lets say a technicality.

"Ugh, Oscar honey, what time is it?", a mumble escaped from the bed.

"You, youre not here..." Oscar managed as he shoved the silhouette of a curvy figure draped in a silken comforter. A loud thump and a groan comfirmed that the problem was dealt with, and Oscar was out of the door, half clad in what would be his work suit.

As Oscar nervously opened the frontdoor in a haste, he collided headfirst with a distraught and messy pile of sandy blonde hair.

"Honey! Watch where you step you oaf!"

"What is an oaf? Oats? I could go for that right now to be honest... I wonder if we have any oa... Oh hey there you, you... jitterbug! Out for a morning walk?"

Oscar was clearly hung over.

"Well honey, i was actually...", the small framed hairball, otherwise known as Beatrix, began to confess.

"OATS! BREAKFAST! LET US EAT OATS AND ENJOY A PROPER MORNING!" Oscar rudely interrupted as he swung his hips non-chalantly toward the kitchen.

"Wait a second...whoa whoa whoa! WHY are you here Oscar... your meeting with the balloon man for your meeting or whatever was half an hour ago...What is going on here?"

"Mmmmffff" Oscar replied.

"Mmff indeed mister, cause that's what your rear-end is gonna say if you dont tell me why youre so late!" Beatrix uttered in Grandma fashion whilest shaking her fist.

Thoughts raced through Oscars head like dog in Petland.
"Do I tell her? What will happen? I have to pee."

"You know you are talking out loud dont you?" Beatrix yelled in an uncalled for manor.

Oscar fumbled to stand up from his chair and nearly collapsed in his half eaten bowl of steaming oatmeal.

"I gotta start my day off right Bea, on the john, you know this."

Oscar seemed as if he was still in his drunken stupor by the way he carried himself across the kitchen to the restroom. Beatrix followed along with a sigh.

"Oscar, there's a reason why im just now getting home..."

Only sounds of pain and utteral grunts escaped the door between the two distressed spouses.

"Honey, i bet off your Harley in a bet with the girls last night..." Beatrix murmered leaning on the bathroom door.

The door swung wide open, and there stood Oscar, emotionless, and pantless.

"Beatrix.... I hate you..."

Beatrix's face turned from shock to furor in approximately 0.03 seconds, and it seemed as if Mike Tyson had been infused with this mad-womans soul, as her small delicate hand turned into a wrecking ball, and collided with Oscars astoot face.

Oscar accepted his punishment with silent resolve and he hung his head, still with his pants around his ankles.

" And where were you Oscar?! HUH? Sleepin' on the job? ANSWER ME YOU FOP!" Beatrix demanded foaming from the mouth.

" Rather sleeping with your so called girlfriend Kelly!"

An eerie silenced breezed through the household, as a loud crash blustered down the stairs, and there Kelly lay, half exposed in her silk comforter, knocked out cold.

Soon after, noise of crying insued, but not from Beatrix, or the fast asleep Kelly, but from Oscar who layed on the front lawn, still in leu of his pride, his pants, and his soon to be ex-wife.

Dialodue Example #1

Honey, I didn't think you would be home this early from your trip.

Well the meeting got canceled, and I got a flight back home this morning.

Did something happen, that the meeting got canceled, because that's very rare for them to let you come home early.

Yeah the speaker's wife got sick, and they didn't know when he'd be back. (short pause). Jackie I have a serious question for you?

What is it? Go ahead and ask me.

Who was that man that went out the back door as I was coming in?

Nobody honey, it's only been the dog and me here, all day.

Jackie, don't lie to me, because we've come to far to start lying to one another now. Just tell me the truth.

I am, the only person that was here was James, my cousin from Flordia, remember the one i told you about before? Well anyway he heard that our great aunt Betty was sick, so he came in to see her.

No I don't remember you ever telling me about your cousin James, but we just talked to your aunt the day before I left, and that was like a week ago.

It was like yesterday, or the day before that she became sick, and they called everyone in.

So if they called everyone one in, why didn't you call me? You do remember that I am part of this family also, and I have a right to know too.

You've just had so much on your mind lately, and I didn't want you to come home early, and worry.

Jackie, you know that family is more important to me than anything, especially work.

Ryan, i've been cheating on you for over four months now, and i'm done, it's over between us.

Dialogue Example #2

Jackie was saying her goodbye to Stan, the man that she had been cheating on while being married to her husband, when she heard the front door open from in the kithen. I MY GOD, his home early.... Hurry, hurry go out the back door, before he hears, or sees you. Then as Stan makes his way out the back door quietly, Jackie went running to the front door.

"Honey, I didn't think that you would be home this early from your trip, what happened, did something happen?'

"Well, I was scheduled to get back home late tomorrow night, but our meeting got canceled and I was able to come home today. Something happened to the speaker's wife, and they told us to go ahead, and catch the next flight home, because they didn't know when he would be back."

"That’s good honey, I’m so happy that your home early, and that your okay, that's all that matter's to me. You won't believe how much I missed you, since you've been gone."

"I’ve missed you too, but I have a question to ask you?"

"Okay then, go ahead and ask me." She was trying to act all innocent with her pretty little smile, and the outfit she had on from earlier, when her and Stan went out to eat. She was wearing a light pink, low cut shirt, with a dark brown tank top underneath, a dark colored skirt, and a pair of pink pumps. Her make-up was the most that she had wore in a while, because of her being a nurse, she saw no need to impress the patients.

"Who was that man that i just saw going out the back door, as I was coming through the front door?"

"What are you talking about? There was nobody here except Sadie (the dog), and me."

That innocent look on her face, wasn't working for him any more, he knew that she wasn't telling him the truth about anything.

'Jackie, who was it, and tell me the truth, or I’ll hunt him down and find it out myself?"

"I really don’t know what you’re talking about; I mean James was here early, my cousin that one I told you about from Flordia. Yeah he heard that our great aunt Betty wasn’t doing so well, and he thought that he would come in and see us."

"Tell you the truth no I don’t recall you telling me that you have a cousin from Florida, or even that your aunt was sick. Are you telling me the truth, with no lie, because we’ve come to far to start lying to one another now? By the way we just talked to your aunt the day before I left, and was like a week ago."

"Yes, no lie, and it was just like yesterday, or the day before that got really sick, and they called everyone in." It was all that she could think of at the time, and she knew that the longer she kept lying, the futher away it was taking them apart. The only thing she kept running across her mind, was just go ahead and tell him the truth, he'll understand.

"So why didn’t you call and tell me about her developed sickness? You do remember that I am part of the family also; I have a right to know these things."

You’ve had so much on your mind lately, and I didn’t want you to have to come home early from work, because I figured that you would rather.... He cut her off before she could finish what she had to say.

"Jackie you are lying through your teeth, and you know that family is more important to me than anything, especially work, I am appauled that you would even think that." Then he walked over to her, took her hands with his, and said I want you to be able to come to me when something happens, and not hide it, or keep it from me.

"Jackie pushed his hands away, and said, I've been cheating on you for about 4 months now, because your always gone. There I said it, are you happy now? I was tired of being home alone all the time, while you were out drinking, and having fun with your friends on meeting trips." There's one last thing i have to say, "I'm done with you, it's over."

Joshua shielded his eyes from the blistering sun as he stepped from his car and walked up his sidewalk. He saw his wife’s car in the garage and became worried. He was tired of lying to her, but apparently he wasn’t the only one hiding something. He wasn't about to be truthful with her yet. He took a breath and opened the door and the smell of alcohol hit him.
Cindy lay on the couch in a red, backless dress that fell just above her knees. " She became startled at his appearance in the doorway. "What are you doin' home?" she asked as she sat up. "You’re s'posed to be at work?" She was nervous now and began trying to hide the campaign bottle and glasses behind the couch cushions.
" I finished early.” He didn’t want to tell her about his job situation yet. He was going to find a new job before he told he about losing his previous job. “It looks like you’re the one who needs to explain things to me. You’re supposed to be a work as well. You said that you had a meeting with your boss." He could fell his blood pressure rising.
" I did have a meting, but not with my boss. Just someone I've known for awhile." She knew he wasn’t going to make this easy. “Its only one o’clock, you’ve finished already?”

She was on to him, he thought. Had she already figured out he lost his job and they were almost broke? He needed to change the subject and fast. Then he saw the campaign bottle sticking out from under the cushions and remembered that she was drinking. “ Why have you been drinking!? You’re pregnant! I know something’s up Cindy. You're not being truthful with me. Let me see it!”He pointed to the cushion. She pulled the bottle and glasses out. “Whom were you drinking with?” Now he was worried about her having an affair on top of everything that had happened to him.

“ I was having lunch with my old friend Bethany. She was passing through town and I needed some comfort. We went to that new Italian place. Then she came back hr so we could continue talking.”

“ Why would you need comfort? And you still haven’t answered my question about drin…”

“I lost the baby Joshua.” She interrupted him.

“ How long ago?” He was quite upset now, but his face didn’t show it. It was stern and showed no emotion.

“ Two weeks. You were so happy about it that I didn’t have the heart to tell you. I scheduled lunch with Bethany to get some support. I knew I would have to tell you so I needed some comfort. I’ve been upset about it. ” She began to cry at this point.

He could now keep his job situation a secret. He was safe for now. He and Cindy had other things on there mind now.

As John was walking down the front porch steps, Anne comes from out of nowhere, almost colliding with him.
“Whoa, you startled me,” John spoke as he took a step back, almost running into her.
“As did you,” she replied. The thoughts that had been running through her mind for the past few days had suddenly been erased from the sight of John. Why was he here? “I thought you were at a conference in New York for work, weren’t you not supposed to be back in town until next Wednesday?” she asked him.
”Oh yeah,” he stutters, then hesitates before he adds,” I came back early.”
”Well then where are you headed to now?” she asks as she eyes the briefcase dangling from him right hand.
”I just have to stop by work and, you know, and check in,” he replies, smoothing things out wonderfully. “Speaking of which, isn’t that where you are supposed to be today?” he asks, trying to turn the questioning back to her.
”Yeah,” she replied, as the memories of the last couple of days came flooding back. She spoke softly, “Our son fell out of the tree in the back yard. He’s been at the hospital for the last two days with a cracked skull. I just came back to take a nap before returning there later. I’ve constantly tried your cell, but I’ve gotten nothing.” She trails off, thinking or her son, and what he has to suffer through, bringing tears to her eyes.
“Wow, I’ll meet you there later after I stop by office ok?” John says, truly concerned for his own kid.
”Well I’m glad you’re home. He will be happy to see you later. Bye honey.” With those things said, she started up the front porch, looking forward to a few peaceful hours alone. As she reached the front door though, she heard a car pull up in the driveway. She slowly turned her head, wondering who it could be. As she did this, a younger lady called out, “Did you get everything that you needed?”
”Hey John, who is that?” Anne asked her husband, and right away she knew something was wrong. The moment she had asked this, she saw both pairs of eyes widen, looking stunned to hear that she was still outside.
“I’ll be right there,” John quietly says to the women while giving a pat to the roof of the car before waling away. “Anne? I think we need to talk.”
”Ok,” Anne replied, dragging the last syllable out before actually sitting down on the porch.
”I know this is probably the worse time for me to be telling you this, because I sure as heck didn’t want you to find out this way, but I have another family across town. It’s been this way for five years, but I’ve never had the guts to tell you,” She pauses slightly before he adds in a quieter tone, “I didn’t expect you to be home today, I was just coming back to get my briefcase.”
Anne’s head was spinning. How had her life gone from great, to down the drain? “I knew things had been different,” Anne said. She looked down at the ground, trying not to get angry. “When were you planning on telling me? Wait. I don’t really care. I hope you get the rest of your things while you’re at it, because me and the kids don’t need this.”
”Do you still want me to go to the hospital? If you think it’s best I’ll not go,” John says quietly.
“No it’s fine, I won’t be there, but you will be able to say goodbye then.” Saying that, Anne stood up and walked in the house, that being her goodbye. John then turned away, and walked to the car that the woman was sitting in. He opened the door, got in, and they drove away, never to be seeing his wife again.

Exercise 1

Jesus, where have you been?

Oh, I didn't expect you to be home ...

I have great news ... I hit the lottery!

Well .. that's .. great!

I know, honey! Things are going to be great for us!

I guess you're right.

What's wrong? Why aren't you excited? And where's your coat? It's freezing out here!

I am excited .. I was in a bit of a hurry.

Come inside! Let's celebrate!

Actually .. I've got something to take care of first .. I'll be back soon though.

Ok? I love you.

Yeah .. you, too.

Exercise 2
Jack ran to his wife at the sight of her. "Jesus where have you been?" he asked.
"Oh .. um .." Isabella began, attempting to invent a believable excuse. "Well, I didn't expect you to be home." That was true enough.
Jack noticed the anxiety on his wife's face and interpreted it wrong. "Honey, it's fine! I'm not mad." he assured her with a grin. "In fact .. I have great news! You won't believe it." When she didn't respond, he continued, "I hit the lottery!" He almost screamed the words out of excitement.
"Well .. that's .. great!" she managed.
He beamed at her, unable to contain his enthusiasm. "I know! Things are going to be great for us!"
"Yes," she nodded slowly, "I suppose you're right .." She told him this even though she knew thing would never be the same for them -- money wouldn't change anything, no matter how much. However, Jack was too distracted to notice the apprehension in her voice.
"Where's your coat?" he questioned, noticing her clothing. "It's freezing! Let's go inside and celebrate!"
"I was in a bit of a hurry this morning .. and actually I've got something important to take care of. I'll be back soon," Isabella promised her husband.
"Well, okay," Jack said, confused. "I love you."
"Yeah," she paused, "you, too."
Isabella returned to her vehicle, knowing it was a lie -- she wouldn't be back. She knew that money wouldn't solve her marriage's problems, however, she had already found the solution months ago.
She pulled away without looking back. Her husband stood there, watching her go.

-Is what?

=We just need to go have a talk with her..
she is changing..

-What do you mean she is changing?
=into what?

-she just isnt the same, come inside it is cold out here.

EXERCISE #2
As I pulled into the driveway with a feeling of regret, I was trying to think of the best excuse to say that was believable. Anything would do, as long as he didn't think I was with that other man. I jumped out of the car, but before I could make it peacefully into the house Steve ran into me.
"I’ve been trying to get a hold of you all day!... what the heck?" He said with an expression full of worry.
"I’m sorry, I had some things to do!" I knew this wasn't good enough to get him off my back. I needed something better to say.
"Things to do!" He exclaimed out of anger,"
What sort of things take all day?"
My brain was running 100 miles an hour, trying to think of the right thing to say. My face turned red as I lied my way out.
"Just some things for work not a big--," He cut me off.
"Listen, there’s something we need to talk about right now!." When he said this my heart dropped in my chest. I knew that something bad had happened when he said this to me.
"Well, what about?" I tried to stay calm.
"Our relationship is getting worse and worse every--"
I could do nothing but interrupt him. There’s no way he could find out.
"I TOLD YOU I WAS BUSY WITH WORK!" My anger took control of me. My face was blood red at this point.

Then he said, "O I’m sorry are you feeling a bit guilty for something because i was just talking about how our relationship with our daughter is getting worse and worse everyday and how we need to spend more time with her."
I had no idea what he was talking about. All of a sudden I realized that he was right. There’s never enough time to spend with Alissa.
"Nothing is wrong, but you are right, we do." I said, glad that he didn't know about Wes and I .
"It seems that she is, is-“
"Is what?" Now, I was worried.
"We need to go have a talk with her. She is just changing.
"Into what?" I was curious to know what exactly he was concerned about.

"Come inside it is cold out here.
“As I followed behind him and entered the living room, I could not believe what I saw. Alissa was setting on the couch with the most horrific outfit on. It was nothing but black with big heavy chains. I knew what was happening then, and Steve was right, we did need to have a serious talk or aor realtonship would be over.

“WOOO! You scared me,” she shrieked.
“I’m sorry I should have said something,” he said.
“Yeah it’s O.K. So I thought you were going out today,” she asked.
“Yah I just thought I would spend the day with you,” he said.
“Is there something wrong,” she wondered
“No. I just thought we could do something on this nasty day,” he recommended
“Yeah sure let me finish the dishes and we can talk,” she said
“All right,” he answered
“So what were you going to do today?” She asked
“Well I was just going to go into town and just loaf around. And you?” He wondered
“I was thinking about renting a movie or something.” She said
“You know we should spend more time together.” He thought
“Yeah…. Yeah we should.” She agreed
“Honey can you come in here real quick?” He asked
“Yeah sure what’s wrong?” She wondered
“Well I think we should both tell the truth what we were really going to do today.” He suggested
“Honey what are you talking about?” She asked
“I know that you have feelings for another person…. A woman… And I was going to see another man today.” He said
“How did you know?” She agreed
“It was obvious the time your friend Walter, the lady from your office slept in the same bed as us.” He added
“The same for you sweetie I knew you were gay for so long.” She responded
“Then why haven’t you said something?” He asked
“Because I have been having relationships with another woman, and you are always out.” She said
“But how did you know about my spicy steamy hot mega-ultra-gay feelings for men.” He wondered
“Well it all started at the movies that one time when you insisted we went and saw Broke Back Mountain”, and you set beside that really gay guy and not me.” She added
“O…. So what do we do now?” He queried
“Ummmmm…. This is kind of weird.” She said
“Yah one more thing though I have AIDS and you probably do to sorry.” He pleaded
“WHAT!!!”She screamed
“Well Steve is a comforting man, but I am through with that, and I hope we can work tings out, so do u want to watch that movie?”He asked
“Are you kidding you just told me I might have AIDS!”She yelled
“Well you might not.”He added
“Yah I’m just going to leave.” She said

Exercise 1.
There was a sleepover at Maylin's house. Her boyfriend had startled her and her friend by his random pecking against the window. We ran out the door as quickly as possible, leaving no trace of evidence that we left. Maylin and Janis (her friend) dashed over to her boyfriend. She had a big secret to tell him but she had forgot what it was. But that's why her boyfriend came, to remind her of this foolishness she should of told him.
Maylin then remember what she was supposed to tell him, she looked at him and spoke. "I don't roll your way anymore... I'm lesbian" Her boyfriend was stunned and dropped the box, that he had hidden behind his back, on the ground and ran away.
Maylin picked it up quietly, opened it, and saw the beautiful ring that was placed inside the hole. She began to weep, and the 2 girls darted back toward the house.

Exercise 2.

"Do you here that?" Maylin said, as a terrible screeching noise came from outside her bedroom window. Janis jumped up in horror, as she ran for the closet. Hidden inside there with no concern of Maylin, Maylin rushes toward the window and opens the curtains slightly and peeks threw.. "Oh GOODNESS" Maylin screamed in shock; it was just her boyfriend, Jason, throwing rocks from a distance. He stood behind the big oak tree that was planted in Maylin’s front yard.
Maylin ran downstairs with Janis following shortly behind, through the front door they go, closing it very genitally behind them. The two girls ran quickly over to were Jason was standing, he looked at them with a very angry look on his face. "Where have you been!?" the two girls sat there in confusion neither one of them knowing what was going on. Maylin stuttered a few times trying to ask him what he was talking bout.
"Uh..w-w-w-hat?"
"Where were you?"
Still no clue of what was going on Maylin stood there.
"You were supposed to meet me over an hour ago, you said you needed to talk to me"
"uhh..er, oh" Maylin spoke as she glanced over at Janis.. as if she knew what he meant now. Janis slightly glanced down, at the huge rock that dangled by her feet. She had also remembered why Maylin needed to talk to Jason; Janis spoke.."Maylin, it's time" as if she was about to tell everyone a horrifying story. Then suddenly, a gush of wind broke loose and knocked Maylin over toward Jason, as he caught her fall with his lips pressed tightly against hers..
"I know why i wanted you to come here" Maylin spoke out in depression.. "I've been keeping this secrete for awhile, and i think you need to kn-kn-kno" She then stopped; and began to speak again, "Jason what's behind your back!?" As Maylin tried to peep around Jason's left shoulder, he jumped and fettled around so she couldn't see what was hidden behind his back. "Just tell me what you had to tell me, then I’ll give you what's placed in my hands behind my back." A quick tear, fell fast down Maylin's face, the thoughts rambling on in her head. She knew what was behind his back, and now she was going to HAVE to tell him this horrible secrete she's kept from him.
"I'm Lesbian"... then a moment of silence appeared out of nowhere as the 3 stood around the tree. All of sudden a sudden gage of noises appeared from Jason's mouth as over a billion tears came racing down his face, he quickly turned around and ran for his car, leaving nothing but dust and loose grass from where he stood.
"Maylin, look down!" Maylin then flung her head to the ground, and picked up a tiny black box. "It must of been that thing Jason had behind his back." She then slightly opened the lid, and as the top came off, the light that creped from behind the curtains of her bedroom, beamed off the beautiful diamond ring. She slid the ring onto her left ring finger, as she noticed a note that was tightly folded in the box, she picked it up and began to sob. “Was this the right decision?” Maylin asked herself over and over again. “Don’t question who you are Maylin, telling him was the right thing to do. You can’t change who you are. It’s not good; You’ve already got the hard part done, let’s just get back to your house and get some sleep. You’ll feel better in the morning.” Maylin opened the note and started to read it. “Till Death Do us Part; Will You Marry Me?” Maylin then dropped the box, and held the note close to her heart. She darted toward the house, leaving Janis behind. Inside her bedroom she cried for 3 days straight, thinking over again about the choices she made. Not one time concerned about school, she kept herself closed up in her room, missing the one of the opposite sex she truly loved.

Exercise 1:

“Oh, I didn’t think you were supposed to be home today.”

“I had something really important to tell you and it just couldn’t wait until I got home. But, wait you weren’t suppose to leave the house today. You weren’t here when I came in. Where were you?”

“Umm. I went out to the…. Grocery store. We were out of milk.”

“But, we got milk yesterday.”

“Well, I used it. Why are you giving me the third degree?”

“I was just asking, why are you being so defensive it’s not like you.”

“Because, I came back to find you home, and then all you do is question me.”

“Honey you were the one who began asking questions. But, anyway I have something to tell you if you would just listen to me for one second.”

“Ok, what is it?”

“I got promoted today, and I am going to be working right beside the big man, George. I am going to be his assistant. Isn’t that great?”

“Oh… Uh, yeah it is great. Congratulations.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Oh, nothing. I just suddenly began to feel sick to my stomach.”

“Oh well let’s get you inside out of the cold, you cannot be warm in the clothes you are wearing.”

“No, I’m fine, just go.”

“Wait, what’s wrong am I missing something why are you crying. You’re scaring me. Please tell me what’s going on.”

“I’m pregnant.”

“Wh. What? But, how?? I can’t.”

“But we are. This is yours.”

“No, no it’s not. I can’t conceive children. So, that means.”

“Don’t go there Ple..”

“That explains it.. The crying, the way you have been acting.. Why did I not put the pieces together before?”

“What are you talking about? I..”

“You’re cheating on me..”

“What? No I am not!”

“That’s the only explanation because I cannot have kids. There is a 99% chance that I cannot so this baby cannot be mine. SO WHO’S IS IT?? WHO HAVE YOU BEEN WITH??”

“No one.. I..”

“Don’t lie to me, tell me now. Or I’m gone. Tell me now, or we’re through.”

“Ok, ok I’ll tell you, but you have to listen to everything before you react ‘cause it only happened once.”

“WHO?”

“Your boss. I’m so sorry, I just wanted you to get this job so bad, I knew how important is was to you. And I wanted to make sure that you got it. I did it for you.”

“What? Wait. Don’t say you did this for me! Do you think that that justifies what you did? This job doesn’t mean that much to me, you ruined 15 years of marriage so that I could get this job. I wouldn’t have sacrificed that. Our marriage is more important to me than any job. How could you do this?”

“I’m sorry.”

“I… I need some air. I’m going out!”

“Please stop, come back!”

Exercise 2:

Lacy was on her way home from a doctors appointment, she was having some tests ran on her. And she was extremely upset about the results that she had been given. As she traveled down the highway she was trying to think of a way to tell her husband Luke, better yet how she was going to keep it from him.
As she pulled up into the driveway it began to snow. It was in the middle of winter, and she was dressed in a dress suit. She turned off the ignition and got out of the car. Lacy searched in her purse for her keys and began to open the door. At the same time Luke was coming out. He had been looking for her the whole time.
“Oh, I didn’t think you were supposed to be home today.” Lacy said with surprise. She was trying to hide the guilty expression that was coming up on her face. She knew that if he found out that she had gone to the doctor he would freak out and then she would have to tell him why and then he would be angry with her.
“I had something really important to tell you and it just couldn’t wait until I got home. But, wait you weren’t suppose to leave the house today. You weren’t here when I came in. Where were you?” Luke asked as his smile faded softly into a frown. A look of confusion came upon his face.
Lacy looked down for a moment at her feet looking desperately for answers that she could give him that wouldn’t result in actually telling him the truth. “Umm. I went out to the…. Grocery store. We were out of milk.” She said with a sigh of relief.
“But, we got milk yesterday.” Luke said the puzzled look remaining on his face.
“Well, I used it. What are you giving me the third degree?” Lacy said as she began to redden in the face. She wasn’t sure if it was because she was angry or embarrassed.
“I was just asking, Lacy. What are you being so defensive?”
Lacy rolled her eyes. “Because, I come back to find you home, and then all you do is question me.” She said as she folded her arms to let him know that she was very displeased.
“Honey you were the one who began asking questions. But, anyway I have something to tell you if you would just listen to me for one second.” He said as he took her hand.
Lacy sighed trying to act like she was the victim. “Ok, what is it?”
Luke’s smile returned to his face, he was so anxious to tell her. “I got promoted today, and I am going to be working right beside the big man, George. I am going to be his office assistant. Isn’t that great?”
Lacy was in shock. She looked passed him. ‘Could this get any worse?’ she thought to herself. “Oh… Uh, yeah it is great. Congratulations.”
Luke looked at her confused yet again, “What’s wrong?” he asked trying to make eye contact with her but she was refusing.
“Oh, nothing. I just suddenly began to feel sick to my stomach.” Lacy said as she placed her hand on her abdomen.
“Well let’s get you inside out of the cold, you cannot be warm in the clothes that you are wearing right now.” He said as he took her hand and began to walk inside.
Lacy reluctantly pulled away from him and she began crying. She couldn’t hold it in anymore it was eating at her. “No, I’m fine, just go!”
Luke turned to her and noticed the tears. “Wait, what’s wrong? Am I missing something? Why are you crying. You’re scaring me. Please tell me what’s going on so I…”
Lacy cut him off and screamed, “I’m pregnant.”
Luke was stunned. He knew that there was no chance that it could be his because he had surgery to make it where he couldn’t because Lacy didn’t want kids. There was a 99.9% chance that he could not conceive a child. “Wh… What? But, how? I can’t…”
Lacy stopped him again, and she placed her hand on his right cheek. “But we are. This is yours.” She said. She wanted so desperately to believe that.
Luke backed away from her. He felt his heart breaking into tiny pieces. “No, no it’s not. I cannot conceive children Lacy you know t hat. So, the only other way this could be happening is if…”
“Don’t go there plea…”
Luke shook his head, tears began to form in the corner of his eyes. “That explains it. The crying, the way you have been acting towards me. Why did I no put the pieces together before now?”
Lacy was hoping that he hadn’t figured it out yet, but he was a smart man. And she knew he would sooner or later. “What are you talking about? I…”
Luke interrupted her. “You’re cheating on me.” He said as he looked her straight in the eye.
Lacy couldn’t look at him she quickly turned away. “No I’m not”
“Don’t lie to me. Tell me the truth for once.” He said as tears were dripping down his cheeks.
“Ok, ok I’ll tell you, but you have to listen to everything before you react ‘cause it only happened once.”
Luke’s heart felt like it was being stabbed right through. He never knew it was possible to feel pain this bad. “Who?” he asked, if he even wanted to know.
Lacy looked down at the ground, she to was crying. “George, I’m so sorry, I just wanted you to get the promotion so bad, I knew how important is was to you. And I wanted to make sure that you got it. I did it for you.”
Luke didn’t think it could get any worse, but Lacy have proven him wrong yet again. “What? Wait. Don’t say you did this for me! Do you think that justifies sleeping with another man? This job doesn’t mean that much to me, you ruined fifteen years of marriage so that I could get a promotion? What were you thinking? How could you do this?” he said.
Lacy reached out for him. “I’m sorry.”
Luke pulled away and looked at her with disgust. “I… I need some air. I’m going out.” He said and he got in his car and left.
Lacy stood in the driveway and yelled for him. “Please stop, come back!” But, Luke continued to drive away from the house and her.

Exercise 1:

Landon? What on earth are you doing? Weren’t you supposed to be at the office?

That’s not really the problem. Where have you been Zoey? I’ve been looking everywhere for you, I even called your mom

I only went to Mattie’s Market on 24th Street. I have only been gone for a few hours. I mean I uhh—

I ran into some people that saw you today.

Oh. What did they say?

A couple people saw you walking into the Doctors office. Why would you lie?

Landon…I … I … don’t know what to say.

You don’t have to say anything; I really need to tell you something before I run out of time. I’m leaving for the army. I got drafted a couple of months ago but I was scared to tell you. The best thing I could think of was to tell you the day of me leaving.

Are you saying…

Yes Zoey, I’m leaving now.

But you cant, Landon. You can’t leave me, not now!

I think its what we both need, you know what I’m talking about.

Exercise 2:

Drafted

Zoey parked right in front of their new house; she began getting out of the car when she heard the garage door open. She stared questionably into the eyes of her husband, “Landon? What on earth are you doing? Weren’t you supposed to be at the office?” He’s up to something, maybe he found out or even saw.

He took a deep breath, “That’s not really the problem. Where have you been Zoey? I’ve been looking everywhere for you, I even called your mom.”

You could see the sweat pouring down her face now, the worry was over coming her. They both stood there for a moment, then she looked him straight in the eye and said, “I only went to Mattie’s Market on 24th Street. I have only been gone for a few hours.” Now that was a mistake, at that point she realized she hadn’t brought any groceries home. “I mean I uhh---”

“I ran into some people that saw you today.” He knew she was lying about everything from the start.

“Oh. What did they say?” Her hands began trembling, could this really be happening to me and what will people think of me, she thought. Not only that, but what will he think of me?

“A couple people saw you walking into the Doctors office. Why would you lie?”

“Landon…I … I … don’t know what to say.” She wanted to tell him so bad.
Maybe there’s a way around telling him. But maybe he already knows.

“You don’t have to say anything, I really need to tell you something before I run out of time.” He waited for her to respond but she didn’t say a word. “I’m leaving for the army. I got drafted a couple months ago but I was scared to tell you. The best thing I could think of was to tell you the day of my leaving.”

“Are you saying…”

“Yes Zoey, I’m leaving now.” She went blank, tears started rolling down her cheeks. She looked back at his truck to see if it was true, and it was. She stared at the 2 black duffle bags in the back of his 1986 two-door ford.
“But you cant, Landon. You can’t leave me, not now!” She could barely spit the words out. She started crying hysterically. She looked at him with puppy dog eyes, hoping he would say something to re-assure her.

“I think its what we both need, you know what I’m talking about.” He left her there, all alone crying.

Here is Exercise 1-

"Hey, I can't believe your parents let you come over to my house."
"Me neither, I guess it's rare but they let me. So where were you Sunday, you said you were going to the party and you changed your mind. I called Saturday to see if you changed you mind but you weren't there."
"I went on a date with this really nice girl. She went to one on Sunday, but we met on Saturday. It was really fun."
"But why weren't you at you house the next day?"
"I was with this girl I met."
"So where'd you go with her?"
"We went to the park and hung out all day."
"That's cool. So what does she look like? Does she go to our school?"
"Umm...well, she goes to our school, I think she's in my 5th period class. She has brown hair with blonde streaks through her hair. She is about my height and has a small nose piercing that has a diamond on it. I think she's gorgeous, have you ever seen her?"
"Well... I have something to tell-"
"I think I'll introduce you to her Monday. She’ll like you. I mean come on, were friends, right?"
"Listen, you met her Saturday right? Well, she went to the same party as I did. There was alcohol and she got drunk, and so did she. We both went up stairs and... well, all I remember is waking next to the toilet and she was on the bed."
"My... Girlfriend? She was there... and..."
"It... was the party you didn't go to... you said you didn't want to go... I.. don't know why she was there even with you as her boyfriend..."
"But we met only Friday..."
"The party was Sunday, I don't understand."
"It could've ..."
"Go, leave... I need to think... see you Monday.... maybe."

Here is Exercise 2-
Two of the best friends had been planning the weekend of straight video games, staying up late and having fun. Tom had gone to a party the weekend before on a party Terry hadn't wanted to go to, Terry had found a girlfriend that same weekend. His new girlfriend they both met before both on different measures.
"I can't wait until tonight. Straight 'Call of Duty' and 'Guitar Hero'! This is going to be so much fun!"
said Tom walking up the stone sidewalk to the straw-colored colonial house his friend lived in.
"Me neither, I can't believe your parents let you."
"I don't know why, oh well, I can live with that."
Just before they entered the house, Terry stopped Tom outside.
"Hey, listen, last weekend, sorry I couldn't go to the party. "
"Don't worry about it, that was last weekend.”
“I saw that it bothered you all week so I wanted to say sorry.”
“Hey listen, I got something to-“
“Well you’ll never guess that I got a girlfriend last weekend. We met last Friday and we had the best night. She is so sweet.” Terry said with a sickening compassion in his voice.
“Where’d you meet her? What does she look like, does she go to our school?” Tom asked with a tremble in his voice.
“At the restraunt, her ex-boyfriend had broke up with her the night before and he stood her up saying that he wanted to get back together with her. So I jumped in and the fireworks flew. We ate dinner with each other and had a good time with her. She does go to our school; she’s in my 5th period class I think. She has brown hair with blonde streaks through it. She’s a little shorter than 5’6’’ and has a small nose ring that has a small diamond in it. I think she looks so pretty when she wears red. She’s nice; we have a lot in common than she thinks. She just didn’t talk to me before, that’s all. “ Terry said
“It sounds like you will be together for awhile, right?” Tom said relaxing a little.
“I think I should introduce you to her.” Terry said confidently.
Tom tensed again at the statement Terry had made. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Tom took a deep breath before he said anything.
“Listen Terry, I got something to tell you. I don’t think you’ll like it. Last weekend, at the party you didn’t go to, she was there.” Tom’s voice was now trembling to the point of him needing to stop himself before he spoke again.
“Your girlfriend was there and got drunk.” Tom looked away from Terry, still holding the terrible secret that was kept inside him.
“What… why was… I don’t understand.” Terry said unable to comprehend what he was hearing.
“She got drunk, and so did I, and we went upstairs, and all I remember is waking up next to the toilet while she was on the bed.”
Terry stared at him, unable to believe it. Terry’s heart sank slightly and then sat in silence on his cold, concrete slab in front of his door. The silence was finally broken when Terry said in a calm voice “Go, I’ll see you Monday in school. Let me just calm down.” The look on Terry’s face was emotionless, which is his way of being angry.
Tom walked off without another word said.

Dialogue Activity

John walked of the house, carrying his packed suitcases, closing the door behind him. He was starting over. The only pick in his good mood was that he would hurt Elizabeth, but she had hurt him many times, so why should- “AHHHH!!!” Elizabeth screamed, walking into John, as he turned the corner.
“What are you doing out here? Where have- shoot! Where have you been? You weren’t supposed to- for the love of God woman, stand up!! You weren’t supposed to be home all day.” She stumbled, trying to regain her footing, while John held her up.
“ I’ve been up to Manchester.” She finally straightened up, smoothing her thin blouse. John wondered why she didn’t have on a coat. “Actually, sweetie, I’ve got something to tell you.” Oh, God. “Now I promised that I would talk to you first, if anything like this ever happened again, but I just had to check it out before I did anything. I-“ she stopped, “ what are those?” She eyed the pearl grey suitcases John had been carrying, but were now scattered over the sidewalk. He started to stutter incoherently, anxiously rubbing the back of his neck.
“Well, these are, uh, that is to say they’re, um, I, uh, can explain, honey. The thing is-“
“Are you ok?” She said, cocking her head to the side, and looking concerned. He used to love it when she did that. “You’re look like you’ve seen a ghost?”
“Everything’s fine. Fine. Just fine. Your news?” For once, he was grateful for Elizabeth’s tiny attention span.
“Oh yeah.” She said, nodding her head. “Well I went to the doctor today. I haven’t been feeling to great, so I went up to the clinic in Manchester, and got checked out.” She always babbled. It gave John a headache. If he was honest with himself, it was one of the many reasons he was leaving. “They took some tests, and well, dear, we’re gong to have another baby!” She smiled expectantly, thrilled with the news.
“What?” John’s mind was blank.
“I’m pregnant, John! The baby will be born in September. Now, I realize this will make things more difficult, but I know we can do it! John, are sure you’re ok?” She moved closer, peering up into his face. Her curly blonde hair brushed his chin, but John didn’t notice.
“You’re what?” He was still struggling to make the words come out of his mouth, but inside his head, he was screaming. He wanted to scream at her! She had done this on purpose!! Elizabeth had found out that he was leaving, so she had gotten pregnant just to make him stay; to ruin his life!! Didn’t she understand that he was unhappy, and it was her that was making him this way! Didn’t she understand anything?
“Pregnant, John.” There was that word again! What a dirty, disgusting word. “What in the Lord’s name is wrong with you?” She put her tiny hands on her rather large hips, and cocked her head again, a furious scowl on her heart-shaped face. “And why are all these suitcases out on the yard? What is going on? John? John!” She reach up and put her hands on his shoulders, shaking him. “Answer me!” That was it! She had no right to touch him! Stepping back, he knocked her arms away. Elizabeth staggered, then stood, looking hurt, and clutching her wrist. Tears welled up in her eyes. John ignored them.
“The suitcases are mine, Elizabeth. I’m leaving.” He said, his voice cold.
“Leaving?” It was her turn to be dumbstruck. “But, where are you going? When will you be back?”
“I’m not coming back.” He turned away, picking up his suitcases.
“What?” Her voice was barely more than a whisper. A tiny drop of worry and pity colored his anger.
“I’ve found someone else. I’m leaving.” He turned back to her, intending to curse her again, but as soon as he turned around, Elizabeth collapsed into a heap onto the ground. “Elizabeth?” He screamed, looking around wildly for somebody, anybody who could help. Jesus, why had he done this? Why had he even started any of this? It was true that they were having a tough time, but why did he have to put her through this? Now he was being punished. God was going to punish him for his adultery by taking Elizabeth and his unborn child away from him! Dear God, please! “Elizabeth!” He screamed again. “OH MY GOD!! Somebody help me! Why did I do that?!? Oh my God! Elizabeth!”

“I know it’s horrible, why would you…do that?
“…I don’t know what your saying.. I was gone, I was somewhere else”
“You left him with me..and now…and now…”
“I don’t know anymore about it than you do”

“I lost him.. I was watching him he disappeared… but you say he’s dead.”
“Umm. No you lost him alright, I thought you found him where I left him…..oops I mean.”
Jane….you killed our son?”

Exercise 2

Tom came slamming through the front door. He ran around to the corner where Jane was standing. His heart was pounding fast, his son had disappeared and it was under his watch.
“JANE, JANE, JANE”
Jane’s stomach sank, “Has he found the body?” She thought
“Calm down it will be ok calm down”
Tom couldn’t calm himself, Jane would be so mad if she’d found out he had lost him.
“Jane, our baby..”
Jane’s heart began racing. Did he know?
“Shut up tom, there’s no need to freak out”
She thought she could play it cool, maybe cover this up.
“He’s…I mean I can’t… but how…I don’t…
Tom was couldn’t think, couldn’t function, he didn’t know what to say, he lost there child, he couldn’t find him anywhere.
“Umm…. I was wondering the same thing…”
Jane just went along with what he was saying. Maybe he didn’t know.
“I know it’s horrible, why would you…do that?
Oh No! “He knows” Jane thought She thought of some excuse to through him off.
“…I don’t know what your saying.. I was gone, I was somewhere else”
“You left him with me..and now…and now…”
“I don’t know anymore about it than you do”
“He’s gone, he’s gone”
Jane was devastated, Tom knew for sure. Tom knew she killed their son. She tried to play it cool anyway.
“I didn’t do it, I swear I just found him there.”
Jane made up an excuse fast….would he believe it?
“No Jane I did it, he’s gone”
“What??”
“I lost him, I lost him”
“You lost his dead body?”
“WHAT HE’S DEAD?”
Tom didn’t know what too do, or how to breathe. Bewildered by his wife’s statement he started asking questions, but not really knowing what was coming from his mouth.
“What did you do? What are you talking about?”
“I lost him.. I was watching him he disappeared… but you say he’s dead.”
“Oh”..Jane thought he doesn’t know.
“Umm. No you lost him alright, I thought you found him where I left him…..oops I mean.”
Oh know, it was over for Jane, she told on herself.
Jane….you killed our son?”

Exercise 2

A young boy walks down a leaf covered sidewalk, the clouds seem to threaten an early snow. The boy is about 14, has a gray sweater on, and posses loads of head-consuming, hair.

He bumps into a much older woman, She has only a mere windbreaker and thin sweatpants, her long blond hair blows erratically in the wind.

"Mom?" His mother backs up, shaking a little from the cold. "Mom, I got eggs and the sugar you needed for my birthday cake. But there is something else I have to tell you." The woman makes a grim looking face, clearly fearing the worst. "Mom, I NEED to get my hair cut for the party! There are gonna be girls there mom, you know CHICKS!"

"Son, today's not the bast day to get your cut." Shocked, the boy blinks in dismay.

"Mom! why can't i just go over to Joe's and get a quick trim or something?"

"It's too expensive..." Erupting now, the child knows something's up, he is sure of it.

"TOO EXPENSIVE?! MOM IT'S CHEAPER THAN THESE EGGS WERE! Whats the deal?" The mother shivers and shakes her head, its stats to snow.

"It's... he's.. he's sick."

Still suspicious, the boy asks more calmly, "Sick? I saw him in the shop today! But, he was staggering around-"

"Look, I could cut-" The boy erupts again.

"NO WAY! Your NOT touching my hair! EVER!" Sounding flustered the mother reply with a shout!

"I just came out to check on you, I'm not making a trip to get your hair cut!"

"But, I could WALK there, and you, YOU who's been wanted me, ME to cut my hair for WEEKS now, suddenly decides I don't need it?" The boy walks closer to his mother, looking her in the eyes.

"Mom whats the deal, its not like he's turned into a zombie or anything. Mom? Whats that look on your face? MOM! It's, he couldn't have been...your not joking?!...Oh, crap." The blond-headed girl begins to shake terribly as she begins crying.

"I never meant for you to know, and-"

"How did it happen?" The snow picks up now, slowly turning into a blizzard.

"Baby, I'm really sorry, when I made the virus i never thought it would-"

"Virus?!" The boy begins backing up from his mom. "But, weren't you just there yesterday, with him? did you?"

"I didn't know it had escaped!" Face growing very pale, the girl begins sweating. Still backing up, the boy reply's.

"So...are you...infected?"

"I... I don't KNOW! I don't know anything SON! I! I..." His mother collapses, her body rapidly decays into a hideous half-rotten corps.

"Br-r-r-r-r....BRAINS!"

"MOM! NO!" The boy shrieks! His mom picking herself up and hanging her arms in front of her chest begins to stagger toward her son.

"BRAINS!" Although not very fast, she is still enough to get the boy to run for all he's worth.

"ZOMBIE! AHHHH!!"

Lucy pulled the car to the curb and exited pulling her plastic shopping bags with her. She walked up the concrete sidewalk realizing that her husband was coming out of the glass front door. “Hey babe” he said questioning as he saw her coming up the walk “I thought you were staying home today?”
At that moment she realized she had left her jacket in the car under the seat. “Um… I went to the store”
“I can see that”, he said, “You still shouldn’t be out in this weather with out a jacket”. He started walking toward the car.
“Don’t” she started but it was to late, he was in the car and had his hand under the seat he pulled the black coat out by the collar and something silver hit the car floorboards.
“What’s that” he said startled. He picked it up off the floor realizing that it was a gun.
“Its not what you think” she said
“Then what is it, I just found a gun in your car!” he yelled
“I’m sorry it was the only way out he was going to tell you” she said through fountains of tears.
“Tell me what!? Who was it!?” he screamed.
“Your brother we had been seeing each other on the weekends when I told you I was going out with the girls” she whimpered.
“And what you killed him!” he screamed.
“Yes he was going to ruin our marriage.” She said calmly. He turned around to face the car quietly, the gun quivering in his cold hand. He silently slid the clip out of the gun and seen there were still bullets and he slid it back in.
“The reason I came home early was to tell you that I got promoted and we were finally going to get out of this godforsaken house.” He began to cry, “and the kids were finally going to get the life they deserve.” He turned to face her once more “but you ruined that for them.” He felt his finger slide the trigger back once, twice and heard the deafening bangs that followed. He fell to his knees as he realized what he had done as he watched his wife bleed into the snow. BANG!
